Aside from updating their rangefinder line with a M8.2 digital rangefinder and 4 lenses (50/0.95 Nocitlux,21/1.4 Summilux,24/1.4 Summilux and 24/3.8 Elmar), Leica has updated two of their digital compact cameras. The first being the D-LUX 4, which will sport a LEICA DC VARIO-SUMMICRON 5.1-12.8 mm f/2.0- 2.8 ASPH (24mm to 60mm in 35mm format). The sensor will be a 1/1.63“ CDD, offering 10.1 megapixel resolution. With it’s high speed performance for low light work, it makes it the perfect complement to your digital or film rangefinder. In addition, the D-LUX 4 will have the options to add many useful accessories like a filter adapter, a viewfinder for with a 24mm brightline frame and a hand grip.

The second digital compact camera will be the smaller Leica C-LUX 3. Aimed at the fashionable consumer, the C-LUX 3 will be boast 10.1 megapixels a powerful zoom lens LEICA DC VARIO-ELMARIT 4.4-22 mm f/2.8-5.9 ASPH (Equivalent to 25mm to 125mm in 35 mm format). The camera will also include a 2.5″ LCD for easy viewing.

Look for the Leica D-LUX 4 and Leica C-LUX 3 in October 2008 at a local Leica dealer.
